Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have led to blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced interruptions to water supplies, as stated by local authorities.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has increased assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

He said that 450 drones and over thirty rockets attacked the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the country's energy grid, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
